The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, together with the Interior
Minister, Saimir Tahiri, declared in a press release that they cut the
ties of corruption with the police.

The Prime Minister declared that they just cut one foot that the crime had inside the Interior Ministry.

“The photos with police officers pushing their patrol car due to the lack of fuel were in fashion, because the fight was unequal and crime was faster. But the most important thing is that we cut one foot that the crime had inside the Ministry of Interior”, Rama declared.

“In less than six months we were able to remove the corruption image of the police. Those who accused us have understood that police and corruption are not the same thing”, Tahiri declared.

The Prime Minister spoke about the poor technical situation of the police during a ceremony in which a Turkish company donated 30 motorcycles and 20 cameras which are installed on traffic police vehicles.

Rama promised financial support for the police, adding that the time of the untouchables is over, and that now they have started a new path.

“I am encouraged today by this huge step that the Police is taking in such a short time, and that regardless of the financial situation of our government, we realized an objective that had never been known in a record time”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister gave a political answer for the opposition’s attacks against the Interior Ministry.

“Unfortunately, there is an effort that sometimes is monstrous, and unfortunately it looks like it is synchronized between the crime and politics, and through the crime they try to occupy the ears and eyes of the citizens”, Rama declared.

The new high-tech vehicles of the police paraded in the main square of the Albanian capital. The installed cameras aim to increase transparency, since every fine and every communication of the police officers with citizens will now be recorded.
