The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, visited the Koco Gliozhieni maternity hospital to hand over a check to the mother of triplets.
Rama’s government introduced this year a new compensation scheme for newborns. Parents who have their first child will receive 40.000 ALL, those who have their second child will receive 80.000 ALL, and 120.000 for the third.
Triplets, in this case, will all be considered third children and the check is 360.000 ALL. The same goes for twins, who will receive 80.000 each, 160.000 in total. Before January 1st, newborn children would receive only 5.000 ALL.
2200 babies were born since January 1st, when the law entered in effect.
