Edi Rama presented to the Socialist Congress the new platform and
program of the main opposition party. He defended the propositions for a
new tax system, compensation to former persecuted people and a
resolution for the property ownership issue, education and other
sectors.
Rama declared that the first decision that the Socialist Party will take when coming to power, will be the nullification of the law of waste import. Rama declared that this project is for 95% of the Albanians, different to the current government that works for the 5% that is only Berisha’s clientele.
The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, declared that the future government, led by the Alliance for the Future, will not take from common citizens the same taxes as from the rich people.
“Sali has reduced taxes only for himself, for the Parliament Speaker and his clientele, not for the common people who have been suffering injustices. Berisha is squeezing the poor and feeding the rich. A nurse pays 30% more taxes than before”, Rama declared.
By inviting the people to believe that the Alliance for the Future will establish social justice, Rama promised that people who will earn less will pay fewer taxes and will also have protection from the state.
Rama also promised that by removing VAT on basic food, such as bread, milk, eggs and medicines, they will give a big help to senior citizens, who are living abandoned by the state.
The Socialist leader declared that the government is trying to bring the opposition to its knees through slander.
“We must be determined to progress. The government is attacking everyday from their trenches, are torturing people, have stolen our votes twice, but there will be no third time, because today, every common democrat has understood that this government is not a right winged force and neither in service of our country”, Rama declared. The opposition leader declared that Berisha’s time is over and the Albanians are living today in the agony of his governing.
By thanking the diplomatic bodies accredited in Tirana for their presence in the Congress, Rama addressed to the EU ambassador, Ettore Sequi, declaring that Europe for the Socialists is a way of being in Albania, and this way of being will be realized by the Socialist Party.
Then he thanked the US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu, who was present in the room:
“As the biggest party of the Albanians, I guarantee for the strong volunty to give to the current government any support in any mission that engages Albania in the strategic partnership. Tomorrow, when we will be in the government, the USA will find a partner that is inspired by the values of the US democracy in the wellbeing of the Albanian people. USA will be proud of their good pupil in the middle of Europe, in the heart of Balkan and among all of them who seek justice, constitutionality, media freedom and meritocracy”.
The MP Mimi Kodheli held a speech about the economic recovery and declared that the poverty means bad governing. The Program of the Socialist Party is the ambition of the Socialists for an Albanian rebirth.
“When we will come to power, we will remove the taxes on basic food products and medicine”, Kodheli declared.
The Socialist MP Sajmir Tahiri declared that the SP will contribute for building a society based on a democratic culture.
“We will reinforce the constitutional institutions, will dismantle the corruption system and will consolidate the rule of law as a vital part of the state. We will divide the state from power”, Tahiri added.
