The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama expressed his will to meet with
the Albanian opposition leaders and discuss about the Normative Act that
postpones the Civil Employee Law, which the opposition has strongly
opposed by even boycotting the Parliament, saying that the law had
passed with the consensus of both parties when the Socialist Party was
in opposition, and now the new majority is postponing it so that they
can replace the public administration employees, while the Socialist
Party insists that their only goal is to make the law applicable by
adding the sub-legal acts, which are missing, and for this they are
ready to discuss with the opposition.
But the opposition reacted through their leader, Lulzim Basha, who declared that they will sit and discuss only of the Socialist Party repeals the Normative Act.
“For the case in question, it is very important to understand what is being asked. They want consensus to break consensus. This is unacceptable. The only answer of the unified opposition is to remove the Normative Act. The opposition has always been ready to dialogue for the country’s interest, for the interest of our nation, such as integration and the welfare of the Albanian people. This is the standard of Lulzim Basha and the Democratic Party, and this is the standard of the Albanian opposition”, Basha declared.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, reacted on Twitter after Basha’s statement, saying: “They put conditions for dialogue when they were in government, and they are doing the same thing in opposition. Even after 20 years of democracy they haven’t understood that dialogue is not about conditions, that’s why it is called dialogue”
The plenary session for voting the Normative Act will be held this Thursday, and the government leader has decided that this time is sufficient for the opposition to sit and discuss before the law is voted, emphasizing that the opposition has all the spaces and opportunities for dialogue and for their arguments to be heard.
In the meantime, the Democratic Party has appealed the government’s Normative Act at the Constitutional Court, which accepted to review it this Friday, and their answer is expected to come out during the week.
This Thursday, the Commission of Europe is also expected to publish the progress-report for Albania.
