Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said in an interview with Austrian daily “Der Standard” he totally supports listing Albania as a safe country of origin in order to stop its citizens leaving in order to request economic asylum in Germany.

He told the newspaper most of the Albanian migrants go to Germany from Greece, after feeling the crisis in a country where they lived for years. “For sure some of them are coming from Albania, Serbia or Kosovo. That’s why we need help from Europe. We are not wizards to transform our countries like EU countries, which living standards they see every day on TV”, Rama said.

Asked what his government will do to improve the situation in the country, Rama responded Albania is making any reform necessary, but younger generations cannot wait for those reforms to impact their life. He insisted that such a crisis cannot be resolved solely by Balkans countries.
