The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that the judiciary system in Albania needs an urgent intervention.

The Parliament leader used a meeting at the Vlore University to update the public with the results of a survey taken by the government on the pre-university education.

“We started the survey to identify the number of teachers who work outside their profile, and we found out that it is unacceptable. There is a huge number of teachers without the respective level. There is a high number of teachers who are paid and do not teach”, Rama declared.

The survey found that more than 26% of the Albanian students are on the hands of teachers that work outside their profile or that they don’t have education at all.

The Prime Minister said that this is a shocking situation. The government will announce this Monday the package of measures for an emergent intervention in this sector.

“First of all, we will clean the system from teachers without education. Secondly, we will clean the system from teachers outside the profile. Thirdly, we will clean the system from teachers who are paid without teaching at all”, Rama declared.

But the most important thing, according to him, is the procedure that will check every teacher.

“We need to start the process for licensing teachers. Teachers will not only have a license, but they also need credits that need to be renewed with systematic work”, Rama declared.

The government leader said that the poor education system is the main reason of the economic backwardness.

“The more teachers without education we have, the worse will be the social and economic situation of the area, because the human capital also decides its economic level”, Rama declared.
