The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, spoke on CNN about what happened in the Belgrade stadium and about his visit in Belgrade.

Rama reiterated his plan to go to Belgrade, but now it was up to the Serbian side.

Commenting once again about what happened in Belgrade’s “Partizan” stadium, Rama condemned the violence and said that it is unfortunate what happened with the Serbian political channels.

CNN: This is the first visit in Serbia, after so many years. Are you still decided to go there?

Edi Rama: This is the first time that the Prime Ministers of both countries meet, after 68 years. Just to create an idea about the problems that we have had in these years. I think that politics should not be led by a football game. I am convinced that this is the right time to turn the page of history that has created such distance in years.

CNN: So, you are ready to go there?

Edi Rama: Certainly.

CNN: Are you sure?

Edi Rama: Absolutely.

CNN: What if you don’t get invited?

Edi Rama: Then, it’s their responsibility.

CNN: What if they say “Yes, you can come”?

Edi Rama: That’s what we have agreed on so far.

CNN: You are a EU candidate country, you have been approved. You had to sign and now you have the responsibility to fix the 12 priorities that were left as a homework. But it’s not something small, they are about the judiciary, the economy, the cooperation…

Edi Rama: There are just five, actually. They are enough like that. When you say 12 it looks like a lot. They are just five, but very important.

CNN: When would you want to become EU members?

Edi Rama: We will certainly make it to be part of it, but Europe must turn from the Europe of fear to the Europe of hope. Europe needs Balkan today more than ever, and Balkan is not the only one needing Europe.
