In an interview for BBC Today, the Albanian Prime Minister said that Albania’s EU accession represents the protection from the ghost of the past.
“This time”, Rama said, “Albania is not demanding to enter the EU, but to open the accession negotiations, which has no costs for the EU, and for which they realized the reforms. The accession will come to a later time also for the other countries of the region”, Rama said.
When asked about the Albanian gangs in Britain, Rama said he had heard a lot about that during the Brexit campaign, but official data show that these are just exaggerations for political purposes.
Rama also said that organized crime is an international problem, and by being together in the EU the fight against it becomes even more effective.
