The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, attended a series of meetings
with leaders of other countries during his stay in New York, during the
meeting of the UN General Assembly.
The Prime Minister’s press office announced that during his meeting with the Turkish President, the Prime Minister emphasized once again the importance of a strategic partnership between our countries. President Gul and Prime Minister Rama discussed about a further encouragement of the trade relations between Albania and Turkey.
A special attention to this meeting was given to the help that the Turkish government can give to improve the Health System in Albania.
While in the meetings held with President Josipovic of Croatia, and the Bulgarian one, Plevneliev, Rama received the readiness of these countries to support Albania in the European Union candidate status this December.
The meeting between Rama and the Montenegrin homologue, Jukanovic, focused on regional cooperation, especially in the study of an opportunity to branch TAP to Kosovo and Montenegro, and create a joint project for building a highway that would cross Croatia, Montenegro and Albania, that would connect the Ionian with the Adriatic costs.
Another meeting was held with the general director of PNUD, Helen Clark. Prime Minister Rama asked the constant support of PNUD in our country, especially for establishing the administration and human resources capacities, to be fully prepared as regards the new challenges and obligations that Albania will receive soon from the European Union.
