The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, gave negative notes to the third
presidential election round, and on the other hand he expressed the
readiness of the opposition to find a consensus, after Xhezair Zaganjori
withdrew his candidacy.
“Today’s session, followed with inappropriate rhetoric, and the consumption in vain of the third round, is not a good sign for the fourth”, Rama declared, adding:
“The withdrawal of the non-consensual candidate opens way to consensus and allows the opposition for confirming its stance”.
The opposition leader expressed his readiness to give consensus for a candidacy, which, according to him, needs to be identified through an all-inclusive dialogue.
The opposition leader has guaranteed the majority that the opposition has only one interest in this process, Albania’s priority on October 11th, in Brussels.
“Our only goal is to have a candidacy that will have a wide consensus in Parliament, without allowing Albania to fail for the third time this Autumn with the EU candidate status”, Rama declared.
“Let’s make it possible for Albania to address the European family before the final parliamentary session, for taking the EU candidate status. Only united we can overcome this complex issue”, he continued.
Rama’s meeting with allies
The leader of the Party for Law and Justice, Spartak Ngjela, underlined that the right to propose a new candidate now belongs to the opposition.
“Berisha is not allowed to suggest a name, if we are talking for consensus. Now it is up to the opposition”, Ngjela declared.
Ngjela underlined that the opposition is in function of consensus, as demanded by the international community.
The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, added the hopes for reaching a consensus with the majority for the presidential stalemate.
Rama said on Top Channel’s Top Story that all possiblities for consensus are there, if they can agree on the modalities.
“We are so close to finding a consensus, that it would be unimaginable one month ago or during all these years. We are ready to give consensus and we demand consensus. It is true that we asked a framework of modalities and not return this into a farse, where the opposition brings names that are rejected by the majority”, Rama declared.
Rama’s declaration came after the third presidential voting round was consumed in Parliament, while the fourth will be held this Monday.
