The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, gave a strong message regarding
the energy theft during a visit at the construction site of the 4.1 MW
hydropower plant near the Rrapun river, Librazhd.

“The operation will continue without compromise, with no tolerance, without seeing left or right. Whoever will steal electricity will not cooperate with the freedom of this society, but will go to where they belong, based on the Criminal Code of the Albanian Republic”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister didn’t speak about an energy increase, but about correct payments by everyone who consumes energy. He also underlined that after leaving the current situation, correct payments will help lowering the energy price for families in the future.

“The European Albania is not done by continuing the path of destruction, but by undertaking the sacrifices of the new road of construction of the European Albania. These sacrifices are not related to a price increase for those who pay, and leave alone those who keep stealing, so that those who pay keep paying for those who steal. This sacrifice is that everyone will pay what they consume, so that we can come to another phase, that of reducing the price on electricity”, Rama declared.

According to the Prime Minister, the operation against energy theft is producing the first results.

“It is very important to tell all Albanians that this operation will not stop. The good will expressed in this phase has made banks meet us and have a confirmation for the will of our government, so that we can start working for a financial package that will help paying all the delayed payments to the energy system investors”, Rama declared.

The MP of Librazhd, Taulant Balla, explained what had happened with this area when the Socialist Party was in opposition.

“When we were in opposition, we protested at this bridge for the 5 million ALL that were needed for repairing this bridge. Today we have a 25 million EUR investment, which is the difference of the past and the present”, Balla declared.
