The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that foreign scientific experts had concluded that the audio claimed by the opposition as a recorded conversation between the brother of the Interior Minister and a drug trafficker is in fact false.
Rama said there was no evidence or reason to remove Fatmir Xhafaj from the government, and he asked the Prosecution to investigate and find out who is hiding behind the audio manipulation.
Rama accused the opposition of sending their false audio recording to all foreign MPs in Europe with the purpose to throw mud against Albania’s image before the EU countries decide for Albania’s EU accession negotiations.
Rama said that the opposition is doing this because they know that if the EU accession negotiations are opened with Albania, the reformed judiciary will hit fundings that have received their assistance through prosecutors and through their governments.
Rama added that the Xhafaj case Is not the same as Tahiri’s, since these accusations were made by politics, not by the judiciary.
