The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said during a visit in Shkoder
that the Vetting Law is the biggest concern for the country, and that no
Parliament member has the right to block it.

“The duty of the representatives of the people is not to refuse voting vetting commissions because they have some other plan. The people’s representatives have no higher plan than working for the rights of the people”, Rama said in a meeting with the Shkoder students, after mentioning several cases of unfair court verdicts.

“The victims will go home tonight and will hear that what we need is a technical government. What is that needed for? We need a Vetting Law, because these are above governments, no matter where the government comes from”, Rama declared.

He answered to the accusations of the opposition, who say that the vetting serves to the Socialist Party.

“Criminals are released by judges. The Vetting Law makes sure that judges are held responsible not in front of the Socialist Party, but in front of a commission that is monitored by an international team of US and EU judges and prosecutors”, Rama said.

The Prime Minister said that due to unfair court verdicts, the government pays a high number of police and customs officers who were discharged for corruption.
