The Albanian government has planned a series of measures for the tourist
season, and the government ministers held a meeting this Monday, with
Prime Minister Rama promising that the history of privatizes beaches
will come to an end.

“The 100% privatization of beaches will come to an end. Paying for stepping on sand and entering water should be over. The private operators will exploit only one part, and they will clean it. I know that there will be problems, but we will not tolerate. The beaches belong to the people and the people doesn’t have to pay”, Rama declared.

The Albanian Prime Minister added that “the tourist season is not a holiday period for the Prime Minister and the government, as unfortunately it has been the tradition so far. This season is a challenge for a new approach for tourism”.

The Prime Minister thanked the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces for cleaning waste materials from beaches.

“I want to thank Minister Mimi Kodheli who led this operation without trouble and with efficiency. Keeping beaches clean will be the key word of this first season of our mandate. We will have clean beaches and clean national roads. The Armed Forces have the respect of everyone for being part of this operation, wince the emergency of waste materials in Albania is not smaller than that of floods. Wastes bring consequences to our tourism”.

The Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, declared that Albania expects 3 to 3.5 million Albanian and foreign tourists during this season, and that the government will engage all resources for guaranteeing public order.

The Minister of Tourism, Eglantina Gjermeni, declred that tourism is very important for Albania, and by order of the Prime Minister, they have established a task force with all Ministers taking measures for a better season. The holiday goers will find cleaner beaches and better conditions this year, after a cleaning campaign that started in February and will continue during the season.
