The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, gave an interview for the Chinese
radio in Albanian language. He sees the recent meeting as the
continuity of new plans, projects and opportunities that Albania and the
region have today to increase cooperation with China.

When asked about the sectors that are seen to have more priorities for developing cooperation with China, Rama declared:

“There is a component that is related directly to the Chinese government. There is also another component that is related to creating conditions for the Chinese private enterprises. As regards the part with the Chinese government, we are finalizing an agreement for financing the works of the Arber Road, and we are discussing about a series of new projects, such as the railway system, which ciould be financed by the Chinese government, keeping in mind the interest expressed by the Chinese government about the region. There is also the Blue Highway, which we discussed at the Bucharest meeting, and other projects in agriculture, infrastructure, fishing and education. Prime Minister Li has introduced today the initiative for donating to the Albanian government 10 million Yuan, which will be used for funding our biggest project of transforming the teaching system through innovation. We also discussed about the Shengjin Port, which is a major project for which there is concrete interest”, Rama declared.

“Albania is not what used to be before for China, and the weight of Albania in the relations with China and the world is more relative today, but this doesn’t mean that we should not give all of our efforts for Albania to attract the attention of the Chinese public opinion”, Rama declared.
