The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that removing taxes for new 4 and 5 star hotels was necessary, since the flux of foreign tourists in Albania has been on the rise.

“For the second consequent year, the supply has been 25% lower than the demand. We need 25% more accommodating capacities”, Rama declared.

From January 1st, new hotels with 4 and 5 starts will be excluded for 10 years from the tax on profit. They will also be relieved of the infrastructure tax, with a reduced VAT of 6%.

“Tourism has increased, and 2016 had a historic record of 1.5 billion EUR revenues. This year I trust we can reach 1.7 billion EUR”, Ahmetaj declared.
