“We don’t have an agreement yet. Not for the division of the areas,
because this concept doesn’t exist, but for the way how mayors are
elected”.

This is what Ilir Meta declared when asked this Monday for the division of municipalities. Although he reiterates that finding the right candidates is more important, Top Channel has learned that the negotiating groups of the SP and SMI are about to reach an agreement. The SMI will have their candidates in 15 municipalities, three of which are of the first level, such as Kukes, Berat and Lezha.

As second level municipalities, SMI has chosen Pogradec, Skrapar, Patos, Selenica, Memaliaj, Puka, Bulqiza, Vora, Kruja, Cerrik, Prrenjas or Librazhd. It remains unclear who will take Lushnja.

The Socialist Party has nine first level municipalities, and together with the other ones, they will have candidates for 46 municipalities in total. As expected, the Socialists will have their candidate in Tirana, the biggest municipality.

From north to south, SP will run with its candidates in Shkodër, Durrës, Elbasan, Korçë, Fier, Vlorë and Gjirokastër. Second hand municipalities: Malësia e Madhe, Hasi, Tropoja, Fushë-Arrëzi, Vau i Dejës, Mirdita, Dibra, Mati, Kurbini, Klosi, Shijaku, Kamza, Kavaja, Rrogozhina, Peqini, Belshi, Divjaka, Kuçova, Ura Vajgurore, Roskoveci, Poliçani, Gramshi, Maliqi, Devolli, Himara, Tepelena, Këlcyra, Përmeti, Kolonja, Libohova, Dropulli, Delvina, Livadhja, Konispoli.

After this division, they are agreeing with the candidates for each municipality. Some mayors are already resigning and others are declaring that they will not run anymore, for other reasons. It will be interesting to see the candidates for the bigger municipalities, especially Tirana.
