Tony Blair, three times Prime Minister of Great Britain and one of the
most important figures of the European left wing, reserved a special
meeting for the Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama.
While discussing about the economic and political situation in Albania, Rama introduced the Albanian Revival program and the priorities of the Socialist Party for the June 23rd elections to Mr.Blair.
The discussion focused on the regional policies that the Socialist government plans to implement in many areas, especially energy.
Another important topic of this discussion was the Socialist Party’s proposition for a honest taxation and universal health care, based on the successful British model.
“Bringing new investments in Albania, encouraging tourism and regional cooperation projects for the integration processes were some of the main topics during the conversation between Rama and Blair”, says a Socialist Party press statement.
Rama invited Mr.Blair to help and support the Socialist Party after the June 23rd elections, an invitation that Mr.Blair was happy to accept.
“I will be very happy to help, because Albania is a country for which I have great interest”, Blair commented.
“An excellent meeting with Tony Blair, the man who transformed the European left wing in a definitive way, and who remains a referring point to all of us. Tony Blair, together with his team, is an extraordinarily important partner who has unique experience and all the advises needed for building a successful government system, and for turning our Albanian Revival program into reality”, Rama declared.
Sources near the Socialist Party leader said for Top Channel that Tony Blair has agreed to visit Albania frequently in the future, in order to help Rama with his job as a Prime Minister.
A group of Tony Blair advisers will be attached to the Socialist government to advise Rama and his cabinet after the June 23rd elections.
Same sources confirm that Rama is planning to meet two other important European Prime Ministers.
