Rama meets Hahn in Tirana

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, held a meeting this Tuesday with
the Head  Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, with whom he
discussed Albania’s EU path.

Rama reiterated the government’s commitment in continuing the reforms that come from the integration process, while Hahn valued the steps taken so far in this direction.

“I express my gratitude to Commissioner Hahn for the support that he is giving to Albania’s integration path. This meeting was a reconfirmation for the mutual commitment in this process. We reconfirmed our will for continuing the reforms and for implementing the five priorities”, Rama declared.

The Government leader underlined that the copletion of these conditions has advanced by leaving marks in an institutional level, especially with the war against crime and corruption. He expressed his optimism that official Tirana will fulfill its obligations and will take the right evaluation from Brussels.

“By Autumn, we will complete all the five priorities. For this I asked the Comimissioner for a stable and predictable process, so that Albania can deliver within this time period”, Rama declared.

The judiciary reform was another matter mentioned by Rama. He said that it will be able to remove the current system, and will start the foundations for a European one.

The Prime Minister asked the EU Commissioner to use for Albania the model they used with Montenegro, as regards the accession negotiations. As for the relations between the majority and the opposition, Rama added:

“We had a positive dialogue with the opposition today, after the political and institutional gaps. We will support the opposition and will create the conditions for being more attentive to it. This is the most delicate time in the region for not postponing the EU enlargement process any longer”, Rama declared.

He added that the hea sked the Commissioner to not allow skeptic countries to be an obstacle for Albania’s EU process.

Hahn: Judiciary reform must continue

The Commissioner for Enlargement, Hahn, declared in a press release that Albania must continue the judiciary reform and the process should be efficient.

The Commissioner underlined that Albania needs serious policies in the fight against corruption.

“Our desire is that Albania should be an EU member. We have had several meetings in support of this dialogue”, Hahn declared.
