Rama: “Let’s reconciliate with Serbs and turn emnity to partnership”

As for the unification and Greater Albania, the will left by our fathers 100 years ago, Rama said that it is not an option anymore. The Prime Minister declared that the nationalistic spirit, the way it comes time after time, is not good for anyone.

Rama released these comments in the “Fol Hapur” debate in Prishtina, organized by the “Fol” Movement. He underlined that the Albanian people are the most important factor in the region. Rama invited Albanians to lay the reconciliation hand to Serbs and turn the old enmity into partnership.

“What happened with the Albanian people in these past 15 years, are things that to one nation happen once in 100 or 200 years. This is fantastic. Let’s not forget that the Albaanins are the most important factor in the region. This importance is a historic responsibility for us. We cannot behave like superiors if we want to use our new weight in the region, if we want to leave a better region and free from the nightmares of the past for the next generation of Albanians. We must be open and direct in the cooperation with the Serbs. They must have it very clear that we do not negotiate on what we have achieved, but we are not hypocrites when we say that we want to build together a better future, by transforming the enmity into partnership and by doing in Balkan what Germany and France did for Europe”, Rama declared.

The questions of the participants were also related to the Albanians of Kosovo. Not only regarding Serbs, but also regarding their future. They reminded that besides the national unification project, in Kosovo there is also the project of creating a Kosovan nation, and the project that was left by the Ahtisari Package is led by the government. But for Edi Rama, all these three matters are connected by one thing.

“None of them can happen, because they are all part of the same thing. The only obstacle we have for realizing the project is us”, Rama declared.

Rama declared that the meetings of both governments will be held, and by the end of January will be published the report of the current work.

Rama spoke about the importance of women in the decision-making process, especially for the fact that women are a bit less corruptible.
