The tensions created between Kosovo and Turkey after the deportation of six Turkish citizens have brought President Hashim Thaci to Tirana.
The President of Kosovo met in Tirana today with the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
There are no further details, but it is known that the Albanian Prime Minister is close to the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The latter has targeted Kosovo’s PM with his declarations, Ramush Haradinaj, who fired the Interior Minister and the Director of Kosovo’s Intelligence Agency, for not informing him about the deportation.
The US State Department issued a declaration in which they supported the government of Kosovo and their decision.
Thaci’s sudden visit arrives in a difficult moment for the Rama government, who is under pressure by protests for the Nation’s Road fee, a fee that has also been opposed in Kosovo as well.
