“Western Balkan and the European Union: Albania’s path to Europe, the destination within us”.
This was the topic of a speech that the Albanian Prime Minister held at the Hague Institution for Global Justice.
“Europe for us is what I would call the daily democracy for our country and the awareness that our actions, at any moment, are decisions that affect the life and opportunity of the people today and of the future generations, who are the new European generations. Our determination for the EU accession and Balkan’s EU integration is related to the desire to contribute in the success of a brilliant international project, which is united Europe, which contributes in the welfare of millions of people and that guarantees a better and more righteous word”, Rama declared.
The Prime Minister underlined that Albania is actively committed in promoting the concrete projects and initiatives of cooperation with the countries of the region.
“Being aware that the regional cooperation is a key factor in the integration success, the Albanian government remains very committed in the regional projects of infrastructure, energy, health, tourism, culture and the job market, for which we are taking fast liberalization steps. The TAP project is also very promising, a project for which Netherlands has shown interest, based on the experience that this country has with the natural gas. Our government is enthusiastic about this interest and the opportunities it will bring to the country and region”, Rama declared.
During the speech, Rama underlined that the Albanian government is working to change the country’s image, a daily and long-term process.
“Our new government is working on the country’s image and we are open to any suggestion. However, this is not something that is related only to the image, but more importantly, this is related to transformation. The integration process is an extraordinary transformation instrument. I think that the brand of our country and of the entire region is essential for its ability to attract tourism and investors, but first of all, it is important to change the stance of others towards us”, the Prime Minister declared.
Rama attended a meeting with the Parliament Speaker and President of the Dutch Senate, Mrs.Anouchka Van Miltenburg, and Mrs. Ankie Broekers-Knol.
