The statue of Ismail Qemali was placed today in Prishtina, in a ceremony
with the presence of the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
Rama declared that he was honored, and that the mission of Ismail Qemali would have not been complete without a symbolic stop in Prishtina.
“There is no higher gesture for a Prime Minister than the inauguration of the statue of the man of our history. Every time that we inaugurate a statue of Ismail Qemali, we declare once again the independence and sovereignty of the Albanian people. The return of this bronze figure of the man of our nation would have not been complete without stopping to Prishtina first, in this place where the Albanian civilization has its foundations in these lands”, Rama declared.
While reminding that Qemali appealed other countries to respect the human rights, Rama reiterated the appeals of the Albanian people in Balkan.
“When the Albanians of Macedonia demand the implementation of the Ochrid Agreement, they are not demanding any additional thing, but their rights that cannot be changed. When the Presheva Albanians raise their voice, they demand nothing more than what has been given to the Serbian citizens in northern Kosovo”, Rama declared, by also explaining the misunderstandings coming from the unification of the Albanian citizens.
“We will not break the promise given to the US and the UE, which is that our unification will only be in the EU, even with the other neighbors, under the roof of Europe. The will of Ismail Qemali was for a united Albania in an United Europe, and no one will be able to wipe the Albanian people out”, Rama declared.
