The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, attended a visit I Stutgard, the
capital of the third biggest state of the German Federation, Baden
Vurtemberg.

The Albanian Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Economic Development, Arben Ahmetaj. Rama had the first meeting wth the Prime Minister of Baden Vurtemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, with whom he discussed about the cooperation possibilities and the need to establish a joint working group.

Kretschmann expressed his consideration for a difficult course of reforms that are important for the country and for its European perspective.

“Since you have come to power, you have progressed with the reforms remarkably. This is about the reforms of the public administration, the judiciary, the fight against corruption and organized crime, and the reforms in taxes and the work market. We are aware that your path is not an easy one, but I am certain that the patience will be rewarded. We want to support you with all that we can”, Kretschmann declared.

In this meeting they spoke about encouraging cooperation especially in professional education. According to Prime Minister Rama, what Albania can benefit from Germany is especially high-level expertise.

“We believe that any contact in this country and with the institutions of this country is a special opportunity to learn. There are a series of areas in which we can learn from you. We are seeing each day in Albania the benefit of learning from your dual system in the professional education. Only in the first year of the adoption of this system, thanks to the cooperation with Germany and with the German experience, we have seen a 40% growth of the youth that enters the professional education. We have also noted that the young men who complete the professional education have 20% more employment chances than those who complete the general education, and just 1% less chances than those who complete university. This is a modest example which shows how much can we do in Albania if we can learn from the most advanced experiences in Europe and especially in Germany. Certainly, there are a series of specific areas that were mentioned by the Prime Minsiter, in which we believe we can benefit from your experience and advices”, Prime Minister Rama declared.

On the other hand, Kretschmann offered support to assist with the development of professional education and to see the chances of active cooperation in other areas too.

“There are also cooperation points in energy and environment, and also in the cooperation between law enforcing agencies”, Kretschmann declared.

Rama underlined that the Albanian government welcomes every help and potential entrepreneur: “Allow me to express our full good will to cooperate with you and to welcome technical assistance from you and from every enterprise from your state that has interest to invest in Albania”, Rama declared.
