The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, is visiting Brussels to lobby for the EU accession negotiations and to give updates about the current political situation.
The EU Council of Ministers will meet in Brussels after seven days, and they will discuss whether they will discuss opening the EU accession negotiations for our country.
Rama will meet with Mogherini, Tusk and Jean-Claude Juncker, with whom he will hold a joint press release at 19:30.
Top Channel’s reporter in Brussels, Muhamed Veliu, reported that PM Rama will hand over a folder in which the majority has listed all the reasons why President Meta has made a severe violation with his decision to repeal the decree for holding the elections on June 30th.
So far, there have been only to stances from the West regarding President Meta. The Spokesperson of Mogherini, Maja Kocijancic, said that this is an issue that the Albanian institutions must follow in full accordance with the law, and that it is essential to preserve the Constitutional right of Albanians to vote in the local elections, and guarantee the continuity of local governments.
The President of the OSCE, Lajcak, appealed the political leaders to demonstrate constraint and respect for the law and for the constitutional roles of the respective democratic institutions.
