Prime Minister Edi Rama today held a conversation with members of the Albanian community in Luxembourg, where among the topics discussed was the vote of immigrants who live and work in European countries.
The Prime Minister said that the lack of a register of the population in foreign countries and the issue of other data hinders the voting for immigrants.
“As far as the vote of immigrants is concerned, it is not a question of desire or will. We want it but it’s a database issue. We still do not have a register of the population in emigration today, although we have made several attempts. We have not succeeded because, as Albanians that we are when it comes to getting a passport or an identity card, we go and do it only on the day we need it. The issue of the database prevents us from arranging voting for immigrants”, said Rama, among other things.
