The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, held a speech at the meeting
against terrorism and extremism, organized by the US government under
the care of the US President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden. Rama
brought the religious harmony of Albania as an success model for the
fight against extremism.

“I am a leader of a country where Muslims and Christians live at peace, which Pope Francis called a religious fraternity. The leader of a country with a glorious history, where Jews were saved during the WWII”, Rama declared.

Rama said that beyond guns, the real fight to defeat extremism is that of winning the hearts and minds of the next generations. And Rama illustrated this idea with the example of Balkan, where new generations refuse to have any connection with the past of the war.

Rama appealed that new generations throughout the world must see hope and not blood in the horizon. In Albania, he said, a reform will make sure that every child is taught with an open mind towards different religions.

He said that what has been learned from Balkans should be useful for this battle.
