The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, broadcasted the Democratic Party
protest live on his Facebook, writing a comparison with January 21st
2011.
“Just six years ago, Ziver Veizi, Hekuran Deda, Ales Nika and Faik Myrtaj were killed by the guns of a government, exactly on the square where people are protesting today without fences, without any fear from the state. This is why we have to be proud today, for the radical change on our state-forming path, which naturally has people who are not happy with it”.
“It is a difficult path. The reforms are not easy. Often they look like painful surgeries. But we cannot have a safe future for our country, our society and for our children, without removing these rotten parts”, the Prime Minister said.
Rama says that most Albanians understand this.
“They are aware about the difficulty and necessity of the reforms. Albania and Albanians were left for 25 years in a long transition, without reforms. They deserve to continue these reforms with determination especially the judiciary one, which needs to be implemented as soon as possible, starting from the Vetting Law”, Rama said.
