Rama: Electricity payment limit removal effects will not be felt

This monthly “Meeting with your Prime Minister” was dedicated to
electricity price and reforms. Prime Minister Edi Rama answered to a
group of retired citizens and representatives of the disabled people.

A retired citizen asked the Prime Minister about the categories that are unable to pay energy after the 300 kw limit will be removed.

“We are preparing to increase pensions of all retired citizens who are family leaders, and who are considered as the most affected category if the limit is removed. We will increase the economic assistance payment for all families that profit from it, and also the payment of the disabled people. This means that each member of the 200.000 families will be helped. This figure shows that this reform and these measures are not being taken against the weakest. This is the most important thing”, Rama declared.

A representative of the Association of Tetraplegics wanted to know if this category will also be imprisoned if they will not pay the electricity.

“We cannot administer theft for anyone. No one can steal. We will increase your payment so that no one can have any problem for paying energy. We will have a budget for increasing pensions, so that the removal of that limit will not affect any of you”, Rama guaranteed.

“I trust that you will not give up. Many works have been started but were left unfinished. I trust that you will not give up. But the Minister must be careful with the employees who check the bills, because they make all sorts of mistakes and then say they cannot undo what they inserted in the digital system”, one senior citizen told the Prime Minister.

“By increasing the price for everyone, it would mean that those who can pay will pay more and then we would still wait and see for the others. It will not be like that anymore. Everything will be made in parallel for everyone”, Rama declared.
