Rama: Electoral College violated justice

SP leader, Edi Rama criticized with harsh tones the Electoral College for not presenting any legal argument that explains the decision taken some
days ago. This decision legitimized the action that Central Election
Commission undertook for counting miscast ballots.

“The Electoral College has given no written reason, as law provides, for the shameful decision taken some days ago. No one knows why the Electoral College supported the shameful CEC decisions, although the law obliges them to give such an explanation within three days”, Rama declared.

The opposition leader underlined that in this situation, which, according to him, violates the Constitution, we have to do with an infringement made by justice institutions, and the Socialist Party will not accept it.

“We do not accept the decision of the Electoral College, because it has showed that it is not independent, and that it is unable to hide its dependence from Sali Berisha”, Rama added.

For the Socialist leader, the declarations released today by Prime Minister Berisha for the result certification show that he is the organizer of this masquerade which, according to him, is being made in front of the eyes of the Albanians and the international community.

“We can see and understand everything that is happening. Our victory, achieved in front of the eyes of all Albanians, makes us remain lucid. The disgusting intervention that CEC did to the electoral process would convince any blind man that what happened in Albania is an electoral cannibalism with people’s votes”, Rama declared.

“The rules cannot be changed after the game is over. Our conviction that a truth which is clear as the sun cannot be covered with Berisha’s madness, makes  us trust that the democratic world will not close the eyes in front of this cannibalism”, Rama continued.

He asked assistance from international missions for “deactivating the time bomb” that according to him is threatening the country.

“We repeat our appeal to the international community for intervening with an independent expertise. Otherwise, this situation risks to turn into a time bomb for our country’s future”, Rama underlined.

The opposition leader warned the “collaborators of the masquerade” that they will be facing the law, adding that the legal battle for Tirana is not over.

“We filed today another court appeal for demanding our rights. We will keep demanding it until the last minute. No one should think that this electoral absurdity will end here”, Rama added.
