In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the Albanian Prime Minister said that the solution to the political crisis is clear, and it is the one that has the support of the entire international community, and most of the Albanian people: elections belong to the people, not to politicians.
“The people have the right to vote on the day provided by the Constitution and the politicians have the duty to respond before the people. Whoever doesn’t want to respond to the people, they are free to do it, but history has shown that not only they will not benefit anything, but they will also suffer a huge political cost”, Rama said.
The Spokesperson of the Presidency, Tedi Blushi, reacted after this interview and said that the President agrees with the Prime Minister that the elections belong to the people: “Democracy and political pluralism cannot be negotiated”, he said.
