Rama: “Election result, important responsibility for SP. Meta must reflect as unifying President”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, held a meeting this Monday with
the Socialist Party MPs who were elected by the June 25th elections.

Rama said this new term gives an important responsibility to the Socialist Party, which is now going to rule the country on its own, without participating allies.

“We received more votes than four years ago, which is rare for any party. Such support is trust for what we are going to do, rather than an evaluation for what we did. Not justifying this trust would be fatal to the Socialist Party”, Rama said.

He thanked the main party leaders and sent a message to his former ally, Ilir Meta, and to the Democratic Party in opposition.

“I want to thank Ilir Meta not for the things that he broke, but for every positive and undeniable contribution that he gave during our cooperation. He must reflect now as a president, since he received our votes to be consensual, not conflictual, and focus on repairing the mistakes done by the last President. I want to thank the SMI ministers as well for the positive contribution to the government”, Rama said.
