Rama: “DP manipulated the audio”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, said that his declaration that the audio of the Albanian opposition is manipulated, is based on the expertise of a foreign agency, whose name he can’t disclose.

“I cannot give the name of the agency that verified the audio because what I have is not valid as evidence. The Prosecution takes care of evidence. I am very clear that this is a masquerade”, the Prime Minister said.

When asked if the expertise Rama refuses to disclose has verified that the voice doesn’t belong to Agron Xhafaj, or if it is the voice of Agron Xhafaj and it has been manipulated, Rama couldn’t respond once again.

“I cannot answer to this. My answer is clear. What was served to the Albanian public as an authentic material was just an ugly manipulation”, Rama said.

He confirmed that Xhafaj will keep being Interior Minister, and added that the opposition is more concerned about the results of his work. Rama, accompanied by the German ambassador, didn’t seem preoccupied about Albert Veliu’s testimony.

Every time that questions from journalists put him in difficulty, Rama likes talking about the journalist who poses the question.

A journalist from Fax News irritated him enough to take him back to the time when he used to talk about media owners. She asked Rama on what basis was he appointing his Interior Ministers, since one of them is on house arrest for aiding drug traffickers, and the other is being accused by the opposition of favouring his brother for the same accusation.

Rama answered her that she should ask the owner of her TV station, who also had a brother, if he should be punished for what his brother did.

Journalist: My owner has nothing to do with the public order. I find no place for your comparison.

Edi Rama: I find it out of place that you come here to make questions, and end up making propaganda.

Journalist: It’s not propaganda, just a question related to actual developments.

In response to her persistence, Rama interrupted the conference and left the room.

Edi Rama: I am being very respectful…

Journalist: I also was being very respectful. You cannot accuse me of making propaganda.

Edi Rama: “You can come up here and go on with the press conference since you insist for the last word”.
