On May 9th, Europe Day, the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, thanked
the veterans of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation war through a
reception at the Prime Minister’s office.
“This is the time for this war to bring only messages of peace, and not disagreements that are made intentionally”.
The Prime Minister declared that whoever denigrades the liberation war makes a low public act.
“People of special groups in our country, rather than making their own war with the weapons of peace, on behalf of the present and future of our country, they make everything possible to keep alive conflicts that were born between Albanians during a war, with the only purpose to increase power. The irresponsible denigration of war is a very low public act that appears only for the interests of some people who have nothing in come with the real interest”, Rama declared.
While the opposition accused that the celebration of May 5th recalls the figure of Enver Hoxha, Prime Minister Rama declared that the government will refuse any effort for abusing the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War.
“The government will take all steps to show the significance of the war not as a glorious page of the past, but as a source of idealism and dreams for our future. The government will refuse any kind of abuse with this war”, Rama declared.
The Ministry of Integration organized a series of activities for the Europe Day. The European Union Embassy in Tirana tried to bring Europe to our country through their traditional culture and food.
According to Prime Minister Rama, the European Union integration process in Balkan has played an important role.
“I believe that this should be a story that we must write together. What Balkan did for Europe, Europe will do for Balkan. More integration for Albania and Balkan means more security for the project of the United Europe”, Rama declared.
Minister Gjoshaj, declared that everyone must give his own contrubute in order to progress with the national priority, the European Union integration.
“The symbolism of the Day of Europe must also make us reflect that the European Union was created based on an important principle, which is unification. Being part of the big European family cannot be done alone. Even the most consolidated political will would not be enough without the engagement of the society and without the participation of all of us”, Gjoshaj declared.
