Today, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, is meeting with the Prime Ministers of Albania and Macedonia.
The summit will focus on Kosovo and on the possible ways to restart the dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade.
Rama said for Top Channel that he will also discuss the German support for Albania’s EU accession negotiations.
Rama considered this a moment for restarting the Berlin process, but the novelty is that this is a German-French summit, with Chancellor Merkel and President Macron being part of it, in order to address all aspects of a historical process, but also to discuss other important matters.
Muhamed Veliu: What will you be discussing with Chancellor Merkel and President Macron?
Edi Rama: Allow me to inform you about that after the meeting. Certainly, we will focus on Albania’s progress for the EU process, and on the necessity to affirm that Albania deserves to take the first, and much awaited step, for opening the accession negotiations.
Muhamed Veliu: If we look at the agenda, it seems that the entire focus is on Kosovo. What about other matters?
Edi Rama: In fact, all matters are involved, but there is also a special session for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. Our position has always been very clear. We encourage dialogue and we will support without reserves any agreement that has the full support of the authorities and representatives of Kosovo, and, of course, the support and guarantee of the EU and USA.
