Rama at the European Parliament

As part of his European tour to earn the support of international
partners after the June 23rd elections, the opposition leader, Edi Rama,
was invited at the European Parliament by the Socialist and Democrat
groups.

The Socialist Party leader spoke about the governing program of the Albanian left wing, reiterating the point of the Albanian Revival program that plans a reunification of our country with Europe. Rama declared that the Socialist government will commit to receive the candidate status and start the membership discussion within the first year of governing.

The impunity culture is another issue that Edi Rama promised to change with an iron will, starting with he governing cabinet. Rama also stated that the Socialist Party will open 300.000 new jobs and explained the plant hat will bring Albania out of the crisis.

As for the political situation in Albania, Rama asked to the 200 European Parliament Members to be attentive to the electoral process in Albania. “Certainly that the elections in Albania remain a bigger problem, because they are not safe andthere have been manipulations”, Rama declared.

The opposition leader declared that the Albanian opposition will win the elections also because of the fact that the left wing has been united.

“We will make it for several reasons. First of all, this time we are all united, and the division of the Albanian left wing has favoured Berisha and his party in the past”, Rama declared.

The President of the Democratic and Socialist Group at the European Parliament, Hannes Swoboda, congratulated the Socialist Party leader Edi Rama for the elections and addressed him with these words: “We expect to see you in the next visit as a Prime Minister”.
