The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared at the National Assembly of the Socialist party that Albania is part of the enlargement strategy that the EU will publish this February. However, our country, according to Rama, may not open the accession negotiations if the opposition, DP and SMI, block the implementation of the judiciary reform. Rama appealed Lulzim Basha to work for a European Albania.

“We are in a unique situation here. The judiciary reform doesn’t trouble the government, but the opposition. I want to appeal the Democratic Party and its leader to represent the ambition of those who voted for opening the accession negotiations”, Rama said.

For the first time, the Prime Minister declared that the division between the SMI and the SP happened because of the judiciary reform.

“Our stance to not compromise the judiciary reform has divided our paths”, Rama said.

As for the first 100 days of his second term as Prime Minister, Rama spoke with positive tones about a growing economy, which, according to him, has not reached common citizens yet.

“We are far from what we promised and what citizens expect”, Rama said.

He criticized mayors who have raised taxes beyond limits, for which he promised verifications from the government.

“Those who want to put in act personal policies, with the idea to not break ties with someone, they will not be part of the SP ion the next elections. One of the basic criteria for supporting the candidates for mayors will be our success in the water reform”, the Prime Minister declared.

Rama promised that the appointing of prison directors will be done the same way as with prefects, who today come from the ranks of military reserves.
