Rama appoints 12 Prefects, all from the military

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, announced the new Prefects that will lead the new 12 districts.
Rama said that this is a new governing phase, and people expect this government to have a new approach.
“This position has been lethargic so far. Citizens want a new approach from this government”, Rama said, adding that the role of Prefects is important even for the fight against cannabis.
“We are determined to go after criminal networks and bring them to justice. The role of prefects takes a special importance. They will be responsible in front of the government for the new situation of the territory. They will be informed in real time for all issues. Establishing public order will require maximal engagement of Prefects, as real-time mediators between the Prime Minister Office and the Interior Ministry.
The Prime Minister appointed 12 new prefects who said that they are high-level military.
“The new Prefects come from military ranks who are not part of the Armed Forces”, Rama said.
