The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, together with his ally, the
Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, preferred to share this Wednesday’s lunch
with the leader of the Party for Justice, Integration and Unity,
Shpetim Idrizi.
This lunch was described to Top Channel by sources close to the government, in an informal way. The invitation was made by the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, and the lunch was held at the government building 31, at Tirana’s center.
Although government sources describe the lunch as informal, its time and location take a political significance. Shpetim Idrizi has given the first signs of being a key factor in unblocking the boycotting situation of the opposition at the Parliamentary Commission for the Administrative Reform.
After meeting with Ambassador Arvizu two days ago, Idrizi declared that the PJIU will encourage both parties to sit and realize the administrative and territorial reform. In these conditions, certainly that Rama and Meta have not left out of discussion the readiness expressed by Idrizi in front of the US ambassador.
It may have been the main topic of the discussion, since all is needed is the five MPs of the PJIU, part of the opposition, sit at the Commission of Administrative Reform and create the necessary quorum for continuing with it.
There has been a mutual desire between Rama and Idrizi to be seen close to each other in public. On the Day of Youth, Rama joined to the PJIU activity, which preferred to organize one of its own, although they are part of the opposition.
These decisions and behaviors of Shpetim Idrizi show the existence of an ambition for building a political project with long-term goals.
Part of this cooperation with the PJIU may be the fact that the public administration employees who are under the control of the PJIU have not been replaced by the new majority.
The political equation between the majority and the PJIU is still unknown. The days to come might bring answers to the question if the PJIU will join the Rama-Meta majority to bring it to 90 MPs in a Parliament of 140.
