The ruling coalition has already been taken by the electoral fever of
June 21st. The weekly meeting of Prime Minister Rama and the Socialist
Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, served only to divide the
municipalities for which the SP and SMI candidates will run.
Sources close to these negotiations said for Top Channel that they are currently discussing about first level municipalities, or the 12 main municipalities of our country.
Rama has proposed Meta to run for three of them, and the SP for nine. But for what municipalities is this about?
The socialists have offered the municipalities of Kukes, Lezhe and Berat for the SMI, but it seems that Meta has not accepted the formula.
Sources from the Parliament confirm that Meta has asked the Municipalities of Fier, Berat, Lezha and even Gjirokaster, and even that of Pogradec as second level municipality.
This request seems to have complicated te negotiations, since the Socialists do not want to lose Fier and Gjirokaster, their strongholds.
The names that are circulating for the SMI are: Gledion Rahovica in Berat, currently an MP; Robert Bitri in Fier; Viktor Tushe in Lezha; Vangjel Tavo in Gjirokaster.
The Socialists think that Baftjar Zeqo and Flamur Bime have it impossible to run again in Fier and Gjirokaster, while Qazim Sejdini for Elbasan is still under discussion.
Only Vangjush Dako seems to continue in Durres, while for Shkoder they have more voices about Keti Bazhdari.
In parallel they are making negotiations with what could be the newest “marriage” in the politics, the Party for Justice, Unity and Integration of Shpetim Idrizi, who aims the municipalities of Konispol, Patos and Librazhd.
Sources say that the process might end by March 5th.
