Same as in Paris, the clergymen of all religious communities in Albania,
sat at the Prime Minister’s office with media representatives and
ministers invited by Edi Rama.
Rama said that the purpose of this meeting is to open a communication between the government and the media, to find ways that increase the values of the Albanian religious fraternity.
“With this situation of hate and violence against the universal values of democracy, religion and Europe, Albania is in a double challenging position. Albania is vulnerable to the Islamic fundamentalism, same as it is vulnerable by the possibility of an Islamophobic wave under the effect of the European right extremism”, Rama declared.
Rama expressed his concern regarding the comments of some Albanians in social networks.
“I have followed with sadness the reaction of some Albanians on social networks, who are part of a small group, but not less concerning. They inexplicably justify the Paris massacre with the fact that Charlie Hebdo has mocked the prophet. This sad opinion, without having anything to do with the life and orders of prophet Mohammed, deserves a serious reflection. This opinion, although in minority, should not be underestimated, if we don’t want that it deforms the convictions and the behavior of a single child for the Albania of tomorrow”, Rama underlined.
The Prime Minister gave a message for those who use radical language in such comments.
“No Albanian should offend his own religion by turning into a threat for the religion of others. Every Muslim Albanian who justifies the Paris massacre with the caricatures of a magazine, offends his own prophet same as every Christian Albanian offends his prophet by considering that massacre a justification to insult Islam”, Rama declared.
According to the Prime Minister, another concern is the lack of information for religion in new generations. “For the lack of knowledge on the truth of holy books, and the sensible lost of the freedom values, of the basic principles and democracy in many young Albanians. This requires a deep analyze, but it is certain that the government, the religious communities and the media have a huge gap to fill in this direction”, Rama declared.
“We all need promoting the European values, because this way we fight terrorism, only by preserving our values”, the Prime Minister declared.
