Rama accuses DP of encouraging tax evasion

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, accused the opposition of
encouraging violation of laws by becoming part of those who evade taxes
and steal public money.

“It is impossible that a political force which used to govern the country and which wants to do it in the future, makes open appeals to not register businesses, not pay taxes and not buy fiscal cases”, Rama declared.

Rama asked the Parliament to support the packages against informality, but former PM Berisha said that the government’s operation is a terror campaign against businesses. He said that this campaign attacks small businesses who work for survival, and defends companies with government ties. But Prime Minister Rama said that their operation against informality will continue same as with the energy theft.

“They will receive an answer in 2017 similar to the one they received in 2015 after they encouraged the theft of the energy. It will be the same for informality, maybe even worse”, Rama answered.
