The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared on Top Channel’s show
“Top Story” that he would address an official public letter to the
opposition leader, asking him to join the efforts for the new
territorial division, a very important reform for our country.

When asked if he would accept the request of the opposition leader, Lulzim Basha – which was made public in another episode of Top Story – regarding the approval method in the Albanian Parliament, Rama gave a positive answer.

“If the request is for the consensual product of the Commission to not be overthrown by the Parliament, certainly that I accept”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister added that the government works as a team and that they will keep working until the end of this term, giving this way a negative answer to the question whether there would be changes in his cabinet. He denied that Saimir Tahiri will be the candidate for the Tirana Municipality in the elections of 2015.

As for the electoral promises, Rama declared that a process will start in the upcoming weeks about the free legalization matter.

“The legalization is a procedure. As for a lands taken through squatting, we cannot speak about giving properties for free”, Rama said.

As for the opposition leader’s declarations about casinos, the Prime Minister declared that the new law package that is being drafted will be made public within 300 days.

“There will be a deadline until January 1st 2016 to everyone who has invested on these casinos because they received a license from the government, and then there will be no more gambling shops in Albania’s urban areas”, Rama stated.

As for the Secret Service, Rama expressed his discontent about the product of this service for Albania’s national security.

“The police has had almost no information at all. The information that was given had a minimal relevance, for not saying nothing at all. This is the problem”, Rama declared.

Rama added that he explained this concern to the Secret Service Director and to the Albanian President, but the details of this conversation were not made public. As for a possible initiative for discharging the Secret Service Director, Rama declared that he is waiting for the results of the investigations led by the Parliamentary Commission of Security, while the Interior Minister has presented his concerns to the President, from whom they expect a reaction.

“Do you think that President Nishani has stayed impartial and above both political forces so far”, asked the host, Sokol Balla.

“I would love to say that, but I cannot confirm this. And I have no desire to deny it”, Rama replied.
