A conflict that had lasted for decades in the Mardhnac of the Qel Commune, in Puke, has caused two deaths and three injuries.
The conflict between the Markaj and Permarkaj families was about a strip of land between their houses. The members of the Markaj family were traveling with a bus, returning from a family visit. 200 meters from their residence, they fell on the ambush raised by the members of the Permarkaj family, who have shot their neighbors.
The bullet killed Paulin Markaj, 43, driver of the private bus, and his brother, Hil Markaj, 54. Tone Markaj, 39, took serious injuries, wife of one of the victims, and also the 25 year old Alfons Markaj, nephew of the victims.
Police also found injured Bardhok Permarkaj, 35, who might have been shot accidentally by his own family members. The police arrested Seferin Permarkaj, but other people have also been part of the ambush.
70 police forces from Shkoder and Puke have surrounded the forest where the killers are supposed to be hiding.
These two families were not unknown for the police. They have had harsh clashes among each other not only in Puke, but also in Kamez of Tirana, where they also live close to each other. The males of these families have often been taken by the police, but the conflict culminated with a massacre and the need of the state to intervene, for not allowing the situation to escalate.
