The Railways and the Kosovo Office at the Serbian government have
completed preparations for the train that will travel to northern
Kosovo. For Belgrade, this is no provocation.
While this line is seen as a problem by Kosovo, Belgrade says stopping it would be a human rights violation.
“This is an UNESCO cultural heritage, and it may be misinterpreted by some people. I see many good things with this train. It connects people with Central Serbia. Also, this is the first time we have a train which offers internet”, said Marko Djuric, Chairman of the Office for Kosovo.
Serbian officials say this train is significant for the economy and freedom of movement, despite the lack of bilateral agreement. Besides that, they say, this is Serbia’s most interesting train.
