Protocol for senior citizens medical treatment

The Health Ministry produced a protocol that assigns the number and types of tests that they should make for the respective illnesses. All general and family doctors will have pre-made protocols for treating illnesses that mostly affect senior citizens, such as hear diseases, diabetes, gastro-intestinal disorders and mental health.

“The success of this treatment regards longevity. Any won treatment in the cure of a senior citizen means a longer life”, declared the Health Minister Petrit Vasili.

The Protocol also sets the parameters and indicators for each illness, accompanied with the respective diagnosis, being also a professional help for the doctors. These protocols are planned by a working group with known Albanian doctors who have exploited national and international epidemiologic data.
