No protest had been organized so far against a draft-budget, but after
the Democratic Party consulted with the interest groups, and after a
Facebook appeal by the former Prime Minister for protests, citizens
gathered today in a protest organized by one of the associations that
also led the November’s protest against the chemical weapons.
The protest had no party flags or politicians, but only citizens against the increased taxes.
The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, declared that he supports any similar protest against raised taxes.
“These concerns are related with the fact that every Albanian will pay more, and that not only there will be no more jobs, but the existing ones would be at risk. For this reason, they have the support of the Democratic Party. We support these protests. Certainly, when the Democratic Party will organize its own protests, we will use open appeals”, Basha declared.
