Protesting toll fee, Kukes citizens don’t want politicians involved

Every time citizens start a protest, the involvement of politicians, giving the protest political attributions, have devaluated their cause.

There have been similar attempts with the protest organized this Saturday at the Nation’s Road, although Kukes citizens in Kukes and Tirana are trying hard to tell that the protest has nothing to do with politics.

“All political leaders should resign, both Rama and Basha as well”, one of them says.

The unified reaction started with the declaration of the “Business for business” declaration in Kukes and was followed by both wings of the Municipal Council, who supported civilian protests.

Accepted as a popular protest, it was applauded on social networks, although it ended up with burned toll booths and stopped the company from collecting the fee.

The government reacted harshly, calling it an attack against the public property. The opposition, on the other hand, reflected their concern and tried to echo the protest.

The Democratic Party members in Kukes and Tirana supported the protest for releasing the 23 suspects, while the Socialists, after offering solidarity at the Municipal Council, are no longer recognized as Socialists by their leader.

While these reactions continue, citizens in Kukes try hard to show that they are protesting for their own sake, not for parties.
