Protest of the disabled people

“A small representative group of us has been staying for three days in front of the Parliament to meet with the Parliament Speaker, but the law will pass at the Commission of Social Matters this Monday at 10:00. All the disabled people will protest against it, because it is not all-inclusive. It actually excludes the disabled people”, says Mubere Prizreni from the Association of Paraplegics.

The President of the Association of the Blind People, Sinan Tafaj, asked the Minister of Labor to resign, accusing him of removing rights that the disabled people have achieved so far, by allowing others to represent them.

“The Minsiter has failed morally as a Minister and he must resign, because he created this law to help his organizations. He gives them competences to represent us. He allows them to be at the councils and gives them the competence to receive services. He has concentrated all the money at his Ministry, and has considered the disabled people as unable to speak and defend themselves. He will appoint the representatives and will establish the rules”, Tafaj declared.

He accused the Minister of manipulating the MPs to approve this draft-law, and asked the Prime Minister’s intervention to resolve this situation that has been created with the disabled people.

A representative group of the disabled people tried to meet with the Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, but the meeting did not take place.
