Protest for Fullani’s resignation

The protesters asked the majority and the opposition to react and stop protecting Governor Fullani.

“He should resign and the Prosecution should investigate him and punish him if found guilty. Fullani is the main suspect of this crime and he should go to prison”, citizens say.

A group of journalists were also part of the protest.

“Millions were stolen from the owner, and he stays calm. A man who cannot do his job should resign”, they say.

This was an unprecedented protest, because, for the first time, despite the financial problems that Albania has gone through in the past 24 years, people protested for the resignation of Ardian Fullani, the National Bank Governor.

While this theft is still being investigated by the Prosecution, the majority doesn’t have an official stance yet. The opposition also has not said anything about this scandal in the most important financial institution of our country.

After two weeks, the opposition broke the silence for the Bank of Albania scandal by calling it the next big theft after the stolen gold.

The Spokesperson of this party declared that the entire security system in this bank needs to be reformed, together with the recruiting mechanism of its workers.

“We encourage the justice institutions to make thorough investigations and bring to justice those who have violated the law. This is a very serious theft, after that of the gold. The banking system needs to reform the safety procedures and those of the human resource selection. We encourage the justice institutions to do their job and bring to justice those who are responsible. The Bank of Albania is part of the National Security. The games for political capital are unacceptable for us”, declared the Spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Laura Vorpsi.
